Trustee x 2
ABOUT US:
We work with young people who live in our toughest wards and estates, in a hidden world, with the highest crime rates.
We know that a structured, skills-based, personal development programme can kickstart a lifetime of change for some of the UK’s most disadvantaged 16-25-year-olds, and it’s our mission to provide this opportunity.
Our unique and highly regarded Youth Empowerment Programme raises aspirations, provides training and builds skills through ten-week (one day per week) professionally led photography courses. Each ten-week course empowers every participant to develop new skills whilst developing self confidence, self-belief, positive community spirit – and the pathway to further training, apprenticeships and employment.
Through the Positive View Youth Empowerment Programme, participants find new ways of thinking about their environment and their lives. Their futures open up and come into a positive, sharp focus as they move forward with their lives.
To achieve this, Positive View utilizes participatory and innovative photography themes delivered philanthropically by highly regarded professional photographers. These skills enable individuals to represent themselves and create tools for advocacy and communication. Through this, and through developing partnerships, we deliver positive social change.
RAISING OUR ASPIRATIONS
Positive View is going through a period of growth and development. Building on our continued success in London, we have now taken our programmes to South East Kent, and intend to grow
our geographical reach. We also have exciting new charitable and commercial partners who share our passions for young people and photography.
Please read more about our vital work for young people by visiting www.positiveview.org.uk.
To do this, we need to grow our board of trustees and diversify the skills and experiences within it, so we are currently seeking to fill two more trustee positions.
We are a small charity, so we are looking for people who are willing to engage proactively in supporting the board and Chief Executive with energy and practical support where possible.
ABOUT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Positive View Foundation Trustee Board meets quarterly in Central London or online. It has overall responsibility for the management of the organization, through the Chief Executive
Officer and its team.
As the governing body of Positive View Foundation, the board of trustees seeks to ensure the best interests of all stakeholders in all types of management decisions, including:
• Strategic planning
• Charity governance
• Long-term charity development and growth
• Finance and Budgeting
• Marketing
• Programme monitoring and evaluation
• Youth development and safeguarding
• Risk
• Development and fundraising growth
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN OUR NEW TRUSTEES
We are looking for people who combine passion with professionalism. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who have an understanding of the lives and experiences of
the young people we work with, of working in youth development, and of charity operations or governance.
We don’t expect to find all of those qualities in one person. Crucially, we are interested in how you will be different to our existing trustees, rather than how you will be similar to them.
We are interested in how you will bring empathy for the young people we work with, at the same time as strengthening the skills of the board of trustees. We would very much welcome applications from younger people. If you feel you lack experience as a trustee but can bring insight to our work and a willingness to learn new skills, then we will
welcome and support you.

HOW TO APPLY
Please email andrew@positiveview.org.uk with your CV and a cover letter explaining why you would like to get involved and what you can bring to the board of trustees. There is no deadline
for submitting your application, but we will close the process once we have found the people we need, so please get in touch as soon as possible.
