About Organisation
Our Time supports and champions children and young people who have parents with a mental illness.
When a parent has a mental illness, it’s rare for anyone – parent, teacher, or even social worker – to discuss it with the child. The children are often confused and frightened, may be bullied at school, and frequently fear they will ‘catch’ their parent’s illness.
Research has shown that over 2.9 million young people are affected by this issue, and at present most receive no attention or support.
Our Time campaigns on behalf of these young people, to make sure they get the right help early on, and prevent them from becoming patients themselves.
